This is an attempt to recreate the sound of a gunshot. At a distant and medium distance. The sound consists of two layers. In the synthesis, white noise with different filtering by layers was used. Reverb was not used. The final processing is equalization and a bit of overdrive.

Multiple gunshots recorded at an indoor gun range. Many of the shots are from an ak47, including single shots and full auto. There is some background noise, but there are some good clear shots in there that can be easily cut out and used. Unfortunately the original recording is only mp3 and the recorder had auto-gain set so some shots are recorded louder than others, but there are still some usable shots in there.

A recording of an air rifle being shot in a valley. Recorded on a zoom h4n pro about 5-10 metres in front of the barrel, facing away from the rifle. Edited in audacity. I love the crackle as the shot breaks the sound barrier. Could be slowed down to make it sound like a larger weapon, or maybe even used as an impulse response. Real recording of an ar15 layered minimally with a kick drum for sub-bass region and trigger sound and processed with some plugins like transient designers, multiband compression and clipping. Eq was used for tonal shaping and frequency cutting here and there for a more polished sound. Single shot recording assembled into a burst fire loop. Made in ableton live. Enjoy.
